OpenWAAND - Women Artist Archives National Directory Platform

Women Artists Archives National Directory (<a href="" target="_blank">WAAND</a>), an ongoing project of Rutgers University Libraries , has laid the groundwork for OpenWAAND by developing the architecture, metadata schema, protocols, and survey instruments used to effectively describe collections and digital objects.

OpenWAAND consists of three linked databases: a Repository Directory, Collections, and an Entity (artist or artists' organization) Database. The Repository Directory is a database of archival organizations; it includes name, location, contact information, services provided, audiences served, and access policies and direct links to each. The Collections database describes the primary source material on a particular woman artist or women’s arts organization that is held by each repository and includes links to all online finding aids . The Entity database comprises basic information about the artist, such as dates of activity, genres, and geographic regions of the artist's activity.
