nonSort element in Title - display in RUcore and IRIS

Project:RUcore dlr/EDIT
Version:5.2

Description

I have noticed that some of the recently ingested ETD titles had first
letter in lower case. Out of curiosity I took a look at this ETD and
noticed that the actual ETD title starts with "The". "The" is entered in
the MODS:nonSort field, and I assume this is the reasonthe first letter in
title starts with lower case.

In MODS:

mods:titleInfo ID="T-1" type=""
mods:title>functional anatomy of hippocampal theta and gamma
oscillations</mods:title
mods:nonSort>The</mods:nonSort

I was more curious to see what a marc record will look like for this
title. Here is what you see in marc:

.245. 13|afunctional anatomy of hippocampal theta and gamma
oscillations|cby Sean M. Montgomery|helectronic resource

We need to find a solution to address this in RUcore as well as IRIS. One suggestion was to duplicate the nonSort value in nonSort and Title. This will not comply with MODS rule for cataloging. Someone has to tell us how to address this in WMS, RUcore, and IRIS.

This looks like the nonSort problem eating the The from titles, which then may appear normal. We need to replicate the data from the nonSort field in the real title field.

I would think this should be fixed in WMS. If you want me to deal with it, I could add a rule to the pre-proc script and filter anything within nonSort back into the title. That would fix the look of the marcexport output, but I think it should be done in WMS if possible. ??
