Supply rights metadata for resources in USS Monitor Drawings collection (NJDH)

Project:RUcore Jobs & Reports
Component:Job - production
Category:task
Priority:normal
Assigned:langschi
Status:Moved to JIRA
Description

Most of the records in the NJDH collection, "USS Monitor Drawings" (from Stevens Institute of Technology) lack a rights metadata record, and the archivist at Stevens would like a rights statement that indicates they are "open access". The drawings were created in 1861. The three individuals who are variously credited with being the creator are all long-deceased (Ericsson: 1889; Lassoe: 1912; MacCord: 1915). Without question, the original drawings are in the public domain.

There are 10 resources (out of 83) that have rightsMD. The rights metadata on those records is:
authority="NJDH"
ID="rulibRdec0001
rightsDeclaration: This resource may be copyright protected. You may make use of this resource, with proper attribution, for educational and other non-commercial uses only. Contact the contributing organization to obtain permission for reproduction, publication, and commercial use.

The resources in which this rights metadata appears are (rutgers-lib: )
42586
42587
42588
42589
42590
42591
42592
42593
42594
42595

Task: together with the archivist at Stevens, determine the appropriate rights statement to be used, and apply it to the 83 resources in this collection. This might include replacing the current rights statement in these 10 records. This work can be done in the WMS through the Fedora Edit module, and is most easily done there.
