Representing date ranges on the landing page

Project:RUcore/NJDH/Partner Portal Search
Version:7.6
Component:User Interface - Service Agent
Category:feature request
Priority:normal

Description

Currently, the landing page displays a start and end date separated by a comma. For Roman coins, when there are start and end dates, these two dates are separated by a comma, e.g. 500 B.C.E., 269 B.C.E (see https://rucore.libraries.rutgers.edu/rutgers-lib/41120/). We would like to see a representation in which the dates are separated by a dash, e.g 500 B.C.E. - 269 B.C.E. Although this may sound like a low priority change, we think it might cause some confusion in the numismatics community. Also, I suspect that dates separated by a dash is pretty much an established convention and would be preferred as a generic fix for all RUcore content.

I have assigned this item to R7.6 because I think it can best be packaged with related date issues such as displaying all three dates (Created, Issued, Other) on the landing page and possibly establishing more appropriate labels. I will try to bring these issues together in a brief specification that highlights the problems we have had with dates on the Roman Coins project.
