Some functions do not work in Chrome browser

Project:RUcore Workflow Management System (WMS)
Version:7.0
Component:Create/Edit Digital Objects
Category:bug report
Priority:critical

Description

While working in a Chrome browser, these two functions did not work. If I discover more Chrome browser-related issues, I will add them.

1. originInfo - date (all date subelements): The date value does not stick. I first encountered this on the production system, and verified the same problems on the development system.

2. subject - geographic (hierarchical): If I choose UNITED STATES for country, the list of states does not appear. If I choose Canada for country, I get a list of provinces and under States it says No State. If I then select UNITED STATES, it still says No State. If I select an existing value (to change or remove), I get a Not Found message on the screen: Not Found The requested URL /dwms/catutil/_ was not found on this server.
Apache/2.2.21 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.21 OpenSSL/0.9.8h PHP/5.3.6 Server at mss3.libraries.rutgers.edu Port 80

This scenario (subj-geog-hier) works fine on the development server, but not on the production server. Since I did not see a reported issue related to the browser, I thought I would mention it here.

It was reported to me that these also do not work in the Safari browser. I'm upgrading the priority to critical, hoping that this will be resolved in the next RUcore/WMS release.

In Chrome (also tested OK in IE and Firefox), the date problem is fixed.
In Chrome (also tested OK in IE and Firefox), the subject-geographic hierarchical problem with U.S. and Canada is fixed.

A minor problem remains with non-United States and non-Canada countries.

Firefox, Chrome and IE: Select any country other than US:
no province [good], no state [good], no counties [good], but ... list of last used cities. If I have entered a US city, then that list will show up. If I have entered a Canadian city, that shows up. If I have not entered any city, then it gives me a "free text" option for County and City Section. Only if I exit or save the record will it flush the last used city for non-US and non-Canada.
