Apply text to the digital file

Project:RUcore Workflow Management System (WMS)
Version:7.4
Component:General
Category:feature request
Priority:normal
Assigned:yuyang
Status:postponed
Description

There are two possible scenarios in which we need to apply text to a digital file, and if this feature is developed there could be many other applications for it. The content of the text will be supplied by the metadata creator or file upload user in the WMS.

1. We want to supply a suggested citation for primary sources, especially those from RUL Special Collections and University Archives. The citation should appear on a preliminary (extra) page of a PDF text document, or in preliminary frames of a video file so that it does not obscure the content of the digital file itself. An example is:

Suggested citation:
Newspaper Clippings, November 1956, Hungarian Refugee Relief Files, Tracy S. Voorhees Papers, Special Collections and University Archives, Rutgers University Libraries.

2. We want to supply a preferred citation or a required publisher's statement for faculty scholarship, especially for the "final, peer-reviewed manuscripts" that publishers allow an author to deposit in RUcore. This preferred citation should appear on a preliminary (extra) page of a PDF text document so that it does not block or obscure the text image of the article itself. Some examples are:

NOTICE: this is the author's version of a work that was accepted for publication in <Journal title>. Changes resulting from the publishing process, such as peer review, editing, corrections, structural formatting, and other quality control mechanisms may not be reflected in this document. Changes may have been made to this work since it was submitted for publication. A definitive version was subsequently published in PUBLICATION, [VOL#, ISSUE#, (DATE)] DOI#

This is an electronic version of an article published in [include the complete citation information for the final version of the article as published in the print edition of the journal]. [JOURNAL TITLE] is available online at: <a href="http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/" title="http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/">http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/</a> with the open URL of your article.

I need clarification for this one. Is this talking about label for the datastream or something else? If latter, please specify where in the metadata this "text" should go to. -YY
