Searching using Solr search doesn't provide accurate results

Project:RUcore dlr/EDIT

Description

Performed a subject search of the term 'civil war' and it returned 11 results. Some of those results do not have 'civil' AND 'war' in the topic metadata.

It has been pointed out that the syntax used to query Solr needs changing.

Which search interface are we talking about? A couple of days ago I updated the solrsearch.php to query as topic:(civil war), etc., and began getting 7 hits rather than 11.

I searched for "civil war" in title in the Digital Collections portal and got 4 results.

In the RUcore portal, "civil war" in subject returns 7 records in the results list.

I searched for "English poetry" in subject and got 1 record in the results list. Clicking on this term from the full record returns the same record.
