Revise Rights Declaration statements

Project:RUcore Jobs & Reports
Component:Report - production
Status:Moved to JIRA

Review and revise the rightsDeclaration statements that reference Creative Commons. Send the revised statement(s) to for review. There should be a general rightsDeclaration that can be used for all circumstances: authors and non-authors (e.g. presenters, editors); individuals and corporate bodies; in-copyright and out-of-copyright. This will especially facilitate the processing of new collections in the Rutgers repository.

We are getting there. The WMS configuration no longer includes rights statements that reference "Creative Commons".

It is unlikely that all new collections will be able to use a single, generic rights statement. The Copyright and Licensing Librarian is drafting a rights statement for all approved digital projects.

What remains is to replace existing rights statements that have obsolete or incorrect wording with acceptable wording. We will begin with testing a set of records on the test server. On the production server, this will likely be a two-step process: running a report to get the set of records that match certain criteria such as belonging to a certain collection and having certain text in the rightsDeclaration, then running a job to replace the text (rightsDeclaration value) along with appropriate and documented rightsDeclaration authority and ID attributes.
